News And Announcements

Dear Parent/Guardian,   Further to the federal Government’s directive on the resumption of Schools, we look forward to welcoming back our Students on Sunday 21st September in readiness for the commencement of academic activities on Monday 22nd September.   On Sunday, all Students and accompanying family members or adults will be required to undergo a temperature check at the security gate before entering the school premises. The temperature check, which will be conducted by trained staff members, will involve the use of an infra-red non-contact thermometer to check the temperature of all individuals entering the school premises. In addition to this, students will be required to complete a short questionnaire; these will be handed out by the screening officers and must be completed and returned to your Child’s house mistress or house master before the end of the day.   In the unlikely event of a Student presenting with an elevated temperature or possible exposure to EVD(based on the answers provided in the questionnaire), he/she will be referred to the senior staff nurse and as a precautionary measure, may not be admitted into the hostel.   Subsequently, full time boarding Students will undergo daily temperature checks for at least 3 weeks after resumption   Please note that these measures will be in place during open days until otherwise advised.   We would like to cease this opportunity to appeal for your patience and cooperation during this process, please do not take offence if you experience delays at the school gates or if your Child is referred to the senior matron/nurse due to a high temperature reading.   In addition to the temperature check as outlined above, the School has put in place a number of other measures to help Students keep safe from EVD. They will be taught to adopt good personal hygiene habits such as regular hand washing and the use of hand sanitizers.   Information posters on Ebola virus disease will be on display in the sick-bay and other locations around the School.   Cleaners will be closely supervised to ensure facilities are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected regularly. The School kitchen will be subject to regular inspection and staff briefings on adopting and maintaining the highest standards of hygiene. Motion sensitive hand sanitizer dispensers have been mounted at the security gate for use by all staff and visitors prior to entering the school premises. Additionally, staff and visitors to the School during school hours will be required to undergo temperature checks conducted by trained security guards.   To complement our efforts, we also want to encourage you to adopt the following measures at home:   Please check your Child’s temperature before coming to school on Sunday, in the interest of the well being of other Students, do not bring your child to School if he/she develops a fever or any other symptoms suggestive of illness.   Monitor the movement and health of all individuals who work in your home. Where possible, conduct daily temperature checks on Cooks, nannies, drivers and all other staff.   If your Child suffers from a chronic illness such as asthma, sickle cell anemia, epilepsy or any other serious condition, please report to the sick-bay to fill in a medical history update form. Information contained in this form will be kept confidential. All prescription medication MUST be handed over to the nurse on-duty for safe-keeping and supervised administration. Students are not permitted to bring non-prescribed medication of any kind to school. The sick bay is well equipped to manage acute and chronic conditions.  Please note: members of staff are not permitted to collect prescription medication on behalf of students for the purpose of safe keeping or administration without written consent from the senior matron in charge of the sick-bay.   If you have any question or comments, please send an email to info@rainbowcollege.org or alternatively, call the Senior nurse, Mrs. Oluwafemi on 07083841764.   Thank you for your usual support.   Aderonmu, O.
